Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 18, 2026

Vigil (“we”, “us”) is a personal scam-defense app for iPhone. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. It is written for a beta product and will be updated as features ship.

What Vigil is for

You can share or paste messages, screenshots, profile photos, links, or audio so Vigil can help you spot scam patterns and decide what to do next. Vigil is a second opinion, not identity proof and not legal advice.

Information on your device

Content you choose to check, verdicts, Vault history, and related local preferences are stored on your device so you can reopen past checks and see when contacts or patterns repeat.

Cloud analysis

When you run a check that needs cloud AI or reverse-image / link lookup, the content required for that check is sent to the providers configured for Vigil (for example Google Gemini, Google Cloud Vision, or xAI) so a result can be returned. Those requests exist to fulfill the feature you started.

We do not sell your personal content. Provider processing is subject to their own terms and retention practices.

Feedback

If you rate a verdict or send feedback, that signal may be stored so we can improve detection. Avoid including passwords, bank codes, or other secrets in free-text feedback.

Analytics & crash data

The beta may collect limited diagnostic information needed to keep the app stable. We aim to avoid collecting more than is useful for reliability.

Children

Vigil is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
